Everything you need to know about basic goat care!

Our Goats 101 Workshops are a fun, interactive day of learning packed with more useful information than you’ll find just about anywhere else. 100% of your donation goes directly to the well-being of the animals in our care.

Our classes are casual, conversational and flexible based on the needs and interests of the group. There is always time for questions or to go into more detail about a particular subject. The workshops are taught by our founder Ellen, who has directly handled every goat that has come into the sanctuary over the past 25+ years. Of course, before, during lunch and after class you will have time to meet the sanctuary herd.

Topics covered include:

  • Setting up your barnyard; shelter requirements and building fences that will actually keep goats in!
  • Feeding, nutrition and body condition monitoring.
  • Toxic plants and other things goats shouldn't eat.
  • Parasite control and current deworming protocols.
  • Common diseases and health issues.
  • Why it's important to have a vet who has hands-on experience with goats on your team.

Demonstrations will include:

  • Hoof trimming
  • Taking vital signs
  • Drenching (giving oral medications)
  • and more!
